Vijest i fotografije dobili smo od Branka Antonia Marinova Martinića. Ovo je već četvrti po redu spomenik posvećen Hrvatima u Antofagasti. Prije Rendića spomenik je podignut Joseu Papiću gospodarstveniku koji je učinio puno za razvoj Antofagaste, zatim filmskoj producentici Adriani Zuanić i novinarki Lenki Franulić. RENDIC IVANOVIC, Antonio (Sutivan, 1896. – Antofagasta, 1993.) bio je liječnik i pjesnik, a pisao je pod pseudonimom Ivo Serge.
