U četvrtak 12. rujna 2019. u Sutivanu je uz prigodnu svečanost otkrivena spomen ploča Antoniu Rendiću Ivanoviću (1896. – 1993.), postavljena na njegovoj rodnoj kući.

 Antonio Rendić Ivanović napustio je Sutivan sa svojim roditeljima kao četverogodišnji dječak i na sjeveru Chile-a u gradu Antofagasti proveo ostatak svog životnog vijeka obavljajući liječničku praksu u privatnoj ordinaciji i pišući i objavljujući poeziju pod pseudonimom Ivo Serge.

 Zbog svoje skrbi koju je siromašnim pripadnicima društva pružao bez ikakve naknade i svog društvenog djelovanja u šriroj zajednici Antofagaste te utjecaja koji je na publiku imala njegova poezija u Chile-u je stekao kultni status i u više navrata bio odlikovan raznim priznanjima na najvišoj razini te prozvan “liječnikom siromašnih” i “apostolom skromnih”.

 Nedugo nakon njegove smrti antofagastanska Nadbiskupija na temelju bezbrojih zahtjeva i apela stanovnika grada i regije Antofagasta imenovala ga je “slugom Božjim” te pokrenula postupak beatifikacije pri Svetoj Stolici koji je još uvijek u tijeku.

Nedugo nakon smrti objavljena je knjiga o njegovom životu i radu “Antonio Rendic Ivanovic – medico de los pobres” koja je 2016. doživjela svoje treće izdanje.

Brojne institucije u Chile-u: bolnice, škole, vatrogasni domovi, ulice i avenije nose njegovo ime, a uspomena na njega i arhiva njegovih radova izložena je u stalnom postavu muzeja “Museo Andres Sabella” u Antofagasti.

 Postavljanjem ove spomen ploče Općina Sutivan i Narodna knjižnica Sutivan žele potaknuti bračku i hrvatsku javnost na bolje poznavanje života i djela ovog izuzetnog čovjeka koji je na najbolji mogući način u tuđini predstavljao zemlju iz koje je potekao.

 Svečanosti je uz brojnu bračku publiku nazočio i predstavnik Splitsko-dalmatinske županije,  predsjednik županijske skupštine Petroslav Sapunar, a u programu su sudjelovali: općinski načelnik Ranko Blažević, ravnatelj knjižnice Franjo Mlinac, prof. Jerko Ljubetić, pisac i prevoditelj, Branka Bezić, voditeljica splitske podružnice Matice iseljenika Hrvatske, poeziju Antonia Rendića Ivanovića recitirali su Arturo Corte i Nato Pivalica a spomen-ploču je otkrio posebni gost, dosadašnji počasni konzul Republike Hrvatske u Antofagasti gosp. Pedro Marinov Martinić.

On Thursday, September 12, 2019, a memorial plaque to Antonio Rendic Ivanovic (1896-1993), erected at his birthplace, was unveiled in Sutivan.

 

Antonio Rendic Ivanovic left Sutivan with his parents as a four-year-old boy and spent the rest of his life in the north of Chile in Antofagasta where he held the private medical office and also wrote and publish poetry under the pseudonym Ivo Serge.

 

Due to the care he provided to poor members of society at no cost and his social work in the wider community of Antofagasta and the influence his poetry had on the audience in Chile, he gained a cult status and was repeatedly honored with various awards at the highest level and was called ” the doctor of the poor ”and the“ apostle of the humble ”.

 

Shortly after his death, the Archdiocese of Antofagasta, on the basis of countless requests and appeals from the inhabitants of the city and region of Antofagasta, named him the “servant of God” and initiated a beatification process at the Vatican, which is still ongoing.

 

Shortly after his death, a book was published about his life and work, “Antonio Rendic Ivanovic – medico de los pobres“, which saw its third edition in 2016.

Numerous institutions in Chile: hospitals, schools, firehouses, streets and avenues bear his name, and the memory of him and the archive of his works are exhibited in the permanent exhibition of the Museo Andres Sabella in Antofagasta.

 

By erecting this memorial plaque, the Municipality of Sutivan and the Sutivan PublicLibrary wish to encourage the Brac and Croatian public to gain a better understanding of the life and work of this remarkable man who represented the country from which he originated in the best possible way.

 

The ceremony was attended by a representative of the Split-Dalmatia County, the President of the County Assembly Petroslav Sapunar, and the program was attended by: Mayor Ranko Blažević, Library Director Franjo Mlinac, prof. Jerko Ljubetic, writer and translator, Branka Bezic, head of the Split branch of the Croatian Emigration Foundation, poetry of Antonio Rendic Ivanovic was recited by Arturo Corte and Nato Pivalica and the memorial plaque was unveiled by a special guest, former Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia in Antofagasta. Pedro Marinov Martinić.
